Military and Veteran Behavioral Health Post-Master’s Certificate Program

Presented by the Center for Deployment Psychology, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, Inc., and the Post-Graduate Center and Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology, Widener University.

The Center for Deployment Psychology has established the Military and Veteran Behavioral Health Post-Master’s Certificate Program to teach best clinical practices to mental health professionals who are addressing the behavioral health needs of military personnel, veterans and their families. This intensive program covers key topics identified by behavioral health experts in the field, such as military culture, combat trauma, suicidal risk, and blast-related TBI.

Completing the full certificate program is strongly recommended for health-care professionals who wish to obtain the comprehensive skills and knowledge needed to care for our troops.

Winning with Wound Wisdom

The “Winning with Wound Wisdom” CE course is designed to illustrate multiple wound care issues faced by health care professionals. Various aspects of wound care will be covered such as: a) discussion of the wound healing phases, b) identification and treatment of lower extremity wounds, c) differentiation and staging of pressure ulcers, d) assessment and management for infected wounds, e) discussion of patient’s nutritional requirements associated with wound healing, and f) identification of patient’s psychological needs related to wound healing. This course will identify appropriate documentation strategies regarding wound prevention, management and treatment. This CE course will culminate in a discussion on how the failure to identify and treat wounds appropriately may result in legal actions involving health care professionals.

The 3rd International Literacy Coaching Summit and Widener University Reading Conference will be held April 14, 15 and 16, 2011 at the Center City Sheraton in Philadelphia.
